Because of spectator constraints at Pomona (Calif.) Raceway, the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series’ annual season-opening action, was pushed back into April. The event will be rescheduled for a later date. Finding a date is not as straightforward as it seems, as the NHRA calendar is jam-packed from May to October. Two dates that seem to be possibilities are July 9-11, which will place the event as the start of the Western Swing. The week of Aug. 6-8 is also available, which will make Pomona the swing’s final sprint.
What The Officials Have To Say?
Officials from the National Hot Rod Association claim they are committed to completing at all 22 national competitions. There are still 19 activities on the calendar, one (Gainesville) has gone, and Pomona is searching for a date. Another race (possibly Tulsa?) is yet to be revealed to round out the 22-race schedule for 2021.
The New Sponsor And Wide Coverage
In 2021, the NHRA will welcome a new sponsor, Camping World, the nation’s largest manufacturer of motorhomes (RVs), RV parts, and RV-related facilities, as well as an expanded relationship with FOX Sports, which will provide increased coverage. The entire 22-event extreme sports series will be shown solely on FOX Sports, with select games shown on the FOX major network.
The famous three-race summer tradition of the NHRA Western Swing involves exciting races at Sonoma Raceway in, Calif., and Pacific Raceways along with Bandimere Speedway. The historic NHRA U.S. Nationals, the sport’s most prominent race, will be held at Lucas Oil Raceway at Atlanta during Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 1-5. The 56th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals will be held November 12-14 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif., as part of the NHRA’s Countdown to the Championship playoff system, in which the top 10 racers in each professional division compete for a championship over the final six events.
Is Bristol Dragway On The List?
The initial NHRA program on Oct. 8 did not involve Bristol Dragway, which has held NHRA sports events since 1965. Bristol Dragway sent a clarification shortly after the announcement, stating that it was in “dialogues with NHRA as well about Bristol Dragway’s 2021 schedule.”
History Of NASCAR Racing
William “Bill” France Sr. (1909-1992), a technician and vehicle repair shop owner from Washington, D.C., who relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida in the mid-1930s, was the guiding force behind the formation of NASCAR. The Daytona region became a magnet for racing fans, and France became interested in racing and race promotions. After seeing how racing laws could differ from one race to the following and how unethical promoters could steal prize money, France decided that a governing body was needed to sanction and encourage racing. He gathered representatives of the racing group to talk about the proposal, and NASCAR was founded in February 1948, with its formal initiation. France was NASCAR’s first president, and he was instrumental in the sport’s early years.
There have been significant changes in the NASCAR drag racing schedule due to the ongoing pandemic. Even the stands are not running in the total capacity, yet with fewer spectators, the NASCAR drag racing event is still exciting many drag race lovers.
